The Real Cost of a $12 T-Shirt (And the $120 One, Too)
Fast fashion isn't a price point. It's a build quality. Some of the worst offenders aren't cheap at all — they're the $120 sweater from a boutique that turns out to be the exact same flimsy polyester as something off Shein, just with better lighting and a bigger markup. I see it constantly in what comes through our doors: pieces with the tags still on, barely worn, that someone paid real money for — and the moment you actually look at the fabric and the stitching, it's obvious they were never going to hold up, no matter what they cost. That's still fast fashion. It's just financed differently.
